About the Developer
David Lee is a native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and has been a PGA member
for over thirty years. He was captain of the University of Arkansas golf team in the early
sixties and played the PGA tour for four years in the early and mid seventies. A severe
left wrist injury ended his playing career and, as a result, his golf ambitions turned
toward the development of a more scientific and "common sense" approach to
teaching the game.
When David Lee joined the
PGA tour in 1970 as an "upper body" player, he soon recognized that Jack
Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and a few others powered their swings with no apparent
force from the arms, yet achieved amazing power and control. He quickly
became committed to understanding exactly how they produced such wonderful, effortless
movement.
However, in his search to
unlock the mysteries of the "perfect" swing, he immediately encountered
problems. Every time he asked a player to describe the feeling of a perfect
swing, the answer always came back... "it feels like nothing."
With that vague answer, began a journey of painstaking discovery.
